We are designing a leaflet to send out to the public showcasing why farming is so important. We’ve posed the question on our facebook page:
Why is farming important to you and what should we be telling the public?
Here are some responses:
“The way we respect our animals we raise to eat, look after the countryside we use for our crops is the best in the word. If you like the idea of seeing fields with happy grazing animals and well kept crops surrounded by hedges and woods managed by a farmer and not the council payed for by your council tax then buy British. Ahh I feel better now!”
“Beer festivals”
“That they should read labeling thoroughly and understand what they are buying: organic etc and look for the red tractor; also to promote and explain the benefits to the countryside of foods such as pheasant and pigeon.”
“Dates for the diary of events being held. Local produce being sourced and sold. Getting the community to help the farms in Kent!”
“Allow farming to change to keep up with other countryside super dairy, and to support your local producers if they want to buy British. Don’t go to the supermarkets and complain they can’t see if its English on the label, get out and find a farm to buy it from”
“Well you should also count the young farmers side of things like the way we are educated and know where our food comes from and at Kent county show were we can be proud of what we do”
